The installation of a PV farm requires both an erosion and flood risk assessment. The 330 Ha area was modeled using a hydrograph to represent small channels and streams and a hyetograph to model rainfall over the entire area. The modeling of the flow velocities of this project highlight the zones sensitive to erosion for a given period of return.

In this project, the study area for a PV plant was located downstream a dam. The numerical modelling of this dam in the worst situation, when the spillway is full, was necessary to check the impact on the studied area. The combination of intense rain and the impact of infrastructure on the land’s natural drainage network can cause significant flooding and areas of severe erosion. For this reason, hydrological and hydraulic studies are necessary to reduce the risks by optimizing the location of the installation and ensuring proper sizing of the drainage systems.
